Are kids really this stupid? Uhhhh, the answer is YES! It’s all kinds of so screwed up. But it’s real. And YOU need to know about it. It’s the latest social media craze killing kids.
It’s called The Tide Pod Challenge.
Yep. Kids are EATING Tide Laundry Pods.
And then to make themselves think they are even cooler – they post the videos of them eating these deadly detergent doses online!!
It is sweeping the nation. And it’s also killing teens.
All the news outlets are covering it. And the kids and teens have it covered too with numerous YouTube videos glamorizes this ridiculous, reckless – and frankly DEADLY ‘joke’. Guess what? This is no joke.
If you’ve missed out, here’s the deal: Kids and Teens are EATING LAUNDRY DETERGENT.
Yep, I know. You have to read that again because it seems too stupid to be true. But it is.
What started out as a joke is no laughing matter. “This started out as a joke on the internet and now it’s just gone too far,”Ann Marie Buerkle, acting chairman of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, said in a statement.
It’s like, as parents, we know to teach them to look both ways before crossing the street, don’t talk to strangers – but now we have to add, “Oh, and don’t eat laundry detergent.” Oh. My. God.
Even Procter & Gamble, the parent company of Tide, issued this warning:
“Our laundry pacs are a highly concentrated detergent meant to clean clothes and they’re used safely in millions of households every day. They should be only used to clean clothes and kept up, closed and away from children. They should not be played with, whatever the circumstance is, even if it is meant as a joke.”
But they’ve gone even further – for those still too idiotic to not eat poison. They’ve teamed up with NFL superstar, Rob Gronkowski to tell kids in a PSA to, well, basically, don’t be stupid.
It’s easy to say NO, but what else can you do?
- TALK to your kids! Warn them. Show them the poisonous ingredients.
- Eating poison will not get them social media street cred, or more likes, retweets, or a cool factor, but it can get them killed.
